The article that impacts me the most was the one that touches on the pygmalion effect.

The article that impacts me the most was the one that touches on the pygmalion effect. I think this is an important concept. People do better when more is expected of them. In education circles, this is called the Pygmalion Effect. It has been demonstrated in study after study, and the results can sometimes be quite significant. Students, who had teachers with higher expectations were more than three times more likely to graduate from college than students who had teachers with lower expectations. In other words, the expectations of teachers showed a very strong predictive relationship with college graduation rates. The way managers treat their subordinates is subtly influenced by what they expect of them. If managers’ expectations are high, productivity is likely to be excellent. If their expectations are low, productivity is likely to be poor. It is as though there were a law that caused subordinates’ performance to rise or fall to meet managers’ expectations (J. Sterling Livingston 2003)

For young leaders today we believe these are the core issues—sector convergence, globalization, people leadership and diversity, educational evolution, technology, and sustainability. The chapters built around them illuminate the topics from the point of view of young leaders who are finding passion and purpose in their profession and re-imagining the future of business leadership. This emphasizes that the more is that expected, from them the more they are able to give. (Coleman, Gulati, & Segovia, 2012).

The new companies are also culturally very diverse, this could be one of the reasons they are so global. The new model of being all inclusive of everyone is an excellent one. Leaders are recognizing that they need other people to help them in order to become successful. Teamwork is highlighted and everyone’s talent is equally as important and contributes to the success of the company including the leaders.

This reading makes an impact on me because my emphasis is always on global inclusion. The world is slowly becoming one platform. We are all joined by social media and other forms of media. Globalization is therefore inevitable.

Excel Spreadsheet and should be in apa format with cover sheet Consider the following scenario:

1 page and 1 Excel Spreadsheet and should be in apa format with cover sheet Consider the following scenario:

Deer Valley Lodge, a ski resort in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah, has plans to eventually add five new chairlifts. Suppose that one lift costs $2 million, and preparing the slope and installing the lift costs another $1.3 million. The lift will allow 300 additional skiers on the slopes, but there are only 40 days a year when the extra capacity will be needed. (Assume that Deer Valley Lodge will sell all 300 lift tickets on those 40 days.) Running the new lift will cost $500 a day for the entire 200 days the lodge is open. Assume that the lift tickets at Deer Valley cost $55 a day. The new lift has an economic life of 20 years.

Assume that the before-tax required rate of return for Deer Valley is 14%. Compute the before-tax NPV of the new lift and advise the managers of Deer Valley about whether adding the lift will be a profitable investment. Show calculations to support your answer. Assume that the after-tax required rate of return for Deer Valley is 8%, the income tax rate is 40%, and the MACRS recovery period is 10 years. Compute the after-tax NPV of the new lift and advise the managers of Deer Valley about whether adding the lift will be a profitable investment. Show calculations to support your answer. What subjective factors would affect the investment decision?

Your 5-year budget includes saving $2,000.00 each quarter. To evaluate which option will benefit the business most, you must evaluate both annuity options by calculating the future value of each option and explain how the investment will help you to carry out your goals.

Purchase 2: After careful review of your maintenance log, you also realized that you will need to replace a fence post molding machine that sells for $40,000.00. You estimate that you will need to purchase a new machine in 3 years’ time as this machine reaches the end of its useful life.
